Bernard Tillman

IBEW Local 1805 is mourning the loss of  Brother Tillman, Bernard can rest now and let the worries of life wash upon other shores.  Bernard had an active role in all facets of theUnion.   At the time of his death, he served as a member of the Executive Board, Chief Steward of Inspection, Negotiating Committee Member, Scholarship Committee Member and the Education Committee where he helped Members earn the credits needed to become Process Assessors.  Bernard has been part of my life for 35 years and he has volunteered for every assignment that has been handed down during that time.  He relished his duties in the Union and maintained the same professional attitude toward his work at Northrop Grumman.

I am left to wonder how many of the other Officers met him at his final destination: Gladys, Mary, Bill, Gladys, Danny, Chuck and the countless others who have made this Union a success.  Rest assured he deserves to be recognized with that group.

I have not begun to figure out how to replace him.  Bernard, know that you will be missed.

Our Holiday Party this year was another great time. Here is a small portion of pictures from the memberships party: Thank everyone who helped and attended!

ATTENTION

From the desk of Human Relations

With the implementation of 9/80 beginning next week, please pass on the information below to your employees regarding signing in at the guard stations.

I spoke with Security regarding the concern with employees on 9/80 starting at 0600 having to sign in. This will be the policy

·       If an employee’s normal assigned shift begins or ends outside NG’s normal 0700-1900 Business Hours they would not be required to sign in or out.

o       1st shift example - shift is 0600-1530 employees would not be required to sign in.

o       2nd shift example – shift is 1045-1845 employee not required to sign out.

o       3rd shift example – shift is 2300-0730 employee not required to sign in.

·       Individuals arriving one hour or greater before their assigned shift or leaving one hour or greater after their assigned shift are required to sign in or out.

·       All employees will continue to sign in and out on the weekend and/or holidays.

I think we tried to anticipate and address most of the concerns regarding 9/80 during negotiations. However, we will continue to work through any additional issues as they arise.  I think this is going to place some burden on the officers during the week at the gates, as they will not know who is in an hour before or after shift and who is not. Employees may still get questioned initially, hopefully over time the officers will make the adjustment.

NEGOTIATIONS
